A team of Glen Rose High School basketball players competing this summer took second place in the nine-team big-school division (Class 4A-6A) of the Texas Basketball Championships State Tournament in Grapevine.

Team members who competed in Grapevine were Kora Dodson, Kashawna Bryant, Ally Andress, Hailey Ibarra, Bree Baker and Sydney Lozier.

Glen Rose, coached by Kathryn Placide, lost to Boswell 43-33 in the division final.

In pool play, Glen Rose defeated China Spring, 41-29; Denison, 41-27; Nacogdoches, 40-28; and lost to Boswell, 63-40. In the championship bracket, Glen Rose beat Godley, 48-24; and Lufkin, 43-41 (in double overtime) before falling to Boswell a second time, in the final.

Several Glen Rose team members were unable to compete in the tournament. Presley Grace, Collie Keller and Laiken McAnear were injured. Logan Smith was unavailable because she was competing in summer volleyball.
