Quarterback Cameron Griffin threw three touchdown passes in the first quarter Friday night in the season football opener for the Glen Rose Tigers, but they couldn’t hold on and dropped the season opener, 33-19 at Grandview. 

The Tigers led 19-6 entering the second quarter after two TD catches by Tyler Torres and one by Dakota Paschall. 

GRHS running back Westen Halcom had a team-leading total of 137 yards rushing on 22 carries. 

Glen Rose trailed 20-19 at halftime, but was shut out the rest of the way. Grandview got back into the game with help from three interceptions. 

The Zebras scored 6 points in the first quarter, 14 in the second and 13 in the third. 

The next game for coach Cliff Watkins' Tigers will be Friday, Sept. 8 at home against Waco Connally. The kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
