JOSHUA — After dispatching Benbrook with relative ease Tuesday night — 25-12, 25-10, 25-8 — the second-ranked Glen Rose Lady Tigers continue playoff action Thursday night in Dublin when they face Brownwood at 6:30 p.m. in a rematch of last year’s second-round match up.
The Lions, the runner-up in District 5-4A, beat Vernon 25-16, 25-22, 22-25, 25-7 Monday night, to earn a match-up with the Lady Tigers, the undefeated (12-0) District 8-4A champion. Brownwood’s Torrey Miller led the Lady Lions with 17 kills and Ashlynn Patteson added 11 kills in the win over Vernon.
“They are going to be ready to get us, so we have to be fired up to face them,” Glen Rose volleyball coach Sandy Langford said.
Counting their playoff win, the Lady Lions (14-19) have won four of their last five, while the Lady Tigers (44-1) have won seven straight matches.
Glen Rose eliminated the Brownwood from the playoffs last season 26-24, 25-10, 25-16 in a match also played in Dublin.
In their win over the Lady Bobcats Tuesday night, Logan Smith led the Lady Tigers with 15 kills, while Ally Andress added 10 kills and three blocks. Bryanna Lytle added seven kills and Libby Hinton had five kills and a block.
The Lady Tigers had a hitting percentage of .429 while adding eight service aces. Mallory Rogers, who led the Lady Tigers with 21 assists, also led in services aces with four and Smith and Madi Mooney added two each.
