The Glen Rose High School Tigers improved to 4-3 in District 8-4A baseball play with Tuesday night’s 2-1 home victory over Venus, getting a complete-game three-hitter from sophomore pitcher Davis Shackelford.

The Tigers got two runs batted in on a single from Jadon Harper in the first inning, and Shackelford made that lead stand. He struck out 10 and walked only two.

Glen Rose out-hit the Bulldogs 4-3.

In addition to Harper’s hit, the Tigers got singles from Ashton Smith, Jett Gould and Shackelford.

The Bulldogs were held scoreless by Shackelford through the first six innings, but managed to drive in a run in the top of the seventh to avoid a shutout.

The Tigers play at Midlothian Heritage on Friday. Their next game will be at home on Tuesday, taking on Alvarado starting at 7:30 p.m.
