For the boys and girls runners of Glen Rose, it was the junior high who stole the show at the season-opening meet at Rex Callicott Park in Keene last week.

The junior high race took place Wednesday and a pair of Lady Tigers medaled.

Eighth grader Shilah McFadin claimed a fourth-place medal with a time of 11:12 in the mile-and-a-half race, while seventh grader Kori Parnell was passed late in the race to bring home the silver in her first career event.

Parnell's finish helped lift the seventh grade Lady Tigers to an overall third place title. The other runners who scored points were Sophie Bozarth, Sonya Garcia, Brittany Rosentreter and Jennifer Mora.

In Friday's high school races, a pair of junior varsity runners also claimed top finishes.

Lady Tiger Elizabeth Escobar covered two miles in 14:06 while Tiger Luke Gosling finished his race in 18:49, both claiming eighth place in their respective runs.

For the varsity, Manny Saldana was the leading runner for the Tigers while Makayla Kucera led the way for the Lady Tigers.

Other Lady Tiger runners included Nicole Hernandez, Jena Brannon, Hannah Dias, Tatiana Wood, and Amber Hewitt, with Miranda Metker, Merae Talavera, Camella Lang, and Erica Rodriquez running for the JV.

Following Saldana, the high school Tiger runners included Corbin Milton, David Barnes, Efrain Saldana, and Justin Beeson on the varsity, and Luis Ponce, Jeremy Cates and Josh Beeson on the JV.

Other eighth grade girl runners were Claire Boswell and Madison Wooten.

For the junior high boys, only eighth grader Chris Harrison claimed a top finish - eleventh place - and he was joined in the competition by Nate Burgess, Adam Talavera, Diego Ruiz, Jonathan Anaya and Jacob Harte.

Seventh grade runners were led by Jackson Keith. He was followed by Travis Pettit, Eric Sanchez, Joey Matthews, Camden Reynolds, and Brendon Taylor.
