Zach Turnham is officially on fire.

In three games in the Morgan Tournament, Turnham scored a combined 80 points and grabbed 39 rebounds for Walnut Springs, leading the Hornets to a 2-1 record over the weekend.

Turnham poured in 33 points while filling up the stat sheet with 11 rebounds, a steal an assist and a blocked shot, leading the Hornets past the Tigers, 75-31.

A 29-point second quarter fueled the rout for the Hornets, as the Tigers tallied only five in the period. Walnut Springs was then sure to show no mercy with a 22-10 third quarter, making the fourth little more than a formality.

Andrew Herring was also in double figures in the win with 11 to go with six rebounds. Marc Sanchez scored eight, grabbed four boards and collected three steals, while Mario Ballesteros ran the offense with six points and five assists.

Others scoring for the Hornets were Matt Prescher with six, Kody Stack with five, Kyle Roundtree with four and Johnathan Stack with two.

The Hornets couldn’t complete a comeback effort in game two last weekend, falling to the Eagles, 63-54.

Turnham had another double-double in the losing effort with 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Herring and Sanchez were also in double digits with 10 each. herring also grabbed eight boards while Sanchez tallied five steals.

Others contributing for Walnut Springs included Johnathan Stack with eight points and four baords, Eddie Whitt with five points and four steal and Rey Chavez with two points.

The Hornets bounced back with yet another double-double from Turnham leading them to a 61-55 defeat of Jonesboro in the tournament finale.

Turnham had 28 points and 14 rebounds to go with three blocked shots in the victory, while Mario Ballesteros scored 16, had six boards and added three steals.

Other scorers in the second win were Whitt with seven, Herringg with six and Johnathan and Kody Stack with two each.

Walnut Springs returns to action on Friday when the Hornets host Axtell.
