The Glen Rose TommyGirls won the U-14 girls division of the Waxahachie Invitational XVIII soccer tournament last weekend.

The TommyGirls opened preliminary play on Saturday against the Terrell Roadrunners and won with a 2-0 shutout.

The Black Knights of Oak Cliff scored the first goal of the tournament against the TommyGirl defense, but Glen Rose prevailed, 3-1.

In the final preliminary bout, the TommyGirls knocked off the Kaufman Storm, 3-1 to earn the top seed heading to Sunday’s bracket play.

In the semifinals, Glen Rose slipped one goal past the Rowlett Magic goal tender and the defense made it stand with its second shutout of the tournament in a 1-0 victory.

The Tommy Girls met Oak Cliff a second time in the championship showdown, and once again the Black Knights couldn’t keep up as the TommyGirls won the match and the tournament title with a 2-1 win.
