Glen Rose picked up two wins but also suffered a pair of defeats in junior high girls basketball action against China Spring Monday.
The seventh “A” Lady Tigers used an 8-1 third-quarter rally to knock off the visiting Lady Cougars 24-22. jaycee Long scored eight to lead GRJH while Meredith Odom added seven and MacKenzie Dahl tallied six. Bailey Randall chipped in with two.
The seventh “B” girls were the other winners from Glen Rose, clipping the Lady Cougars 21-12 thanks largely to a 12-4 advantage in the second half. Scorers whose names are allowed to be published were Kedzie Sheets with four points and Sierra Armstrong with two.
The eighth “A” girls were thumped 43-15 by China Spring. Maria Contreras led the Lady Tigers with seven points, Amber Ponce added four, Erica Lopez chipped in with three and Sydney Stegint scored one.
The eighth “B” Lady Tigers pulled within three with an 8-3 third quarter run, but couldn’t complete the comeback in a 20-16 loss. Consuelo Galindo scored nine points while Anna Lerma had five.
