Walnut Springs scored 38 unanswered points to turn a tight game into a 52-6 rout against Oglesby in a Six-Man Division II District 15 opener on Oct. 9.

Quarterback Eddie Whitt was at his best for the 7-0 Hornets, passing for 135 yards and two scores and rushing for 107 yards and another pair of touchdowns.

Walnut Springs also benefitted from a benefitted from a vintage Kody Stack performance - the junior opened the scoring with a one-yard run and added the final two TDs on a 48-yard reception and a 25-yard interception return - and a big night by Ryan Englehardt, who scored on an eight-yard run and had a 54-yard reception.

After Stack began the scoring, Whitt made it 14-6 with a 37-yard sprint to pay dirt early in the second.

Oglesby tried to make it tough by scoring on a three-yard run with 9:56 left in the first half, but it was all Hornets from that point forward.

Whitt scored on a 51-yard jaunt just 32 seconds after Oglesby celebrated its only TD. Englehardt then tacked his touchdown onto the scoreboard and Johnathan Stack followed suit with a 28-yard scoring catch to make it 38-6 at the break.

Kody Stack did the rest, hauling in his TD reception then converting a pick-six defensively, giving the Hornets their fourth win this season via six-manís 45-point mercy rule.

Kody Stack finished with 72 yards on three receptions to go with his three TDs, 12 tackles, a fumble recovery and the interception. Johnathan Stack had three catches for 66 yards.

Englehardt had 10 tackles for Walnut Springs and Mario Ballesteros added nine.

The Hornets are now averaging 54.7 points per game while giving up just 15.3. They continue district play at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Leverettís Chapel.
