Glen Rose junior Gina Sannnoh ran a personal best 13 minutes, 22 seconds to place fifth in the District 7-3A cross country meet at Whitney State Park on Oct. 28, earning a spot in the 3A Region I championships in Lubbock this weekend.
Sannoh led a Lady Tigers varsity team that also featured Sao Sannoh (24th), Lindsay Floyd (29th), Tatiana Wood (31st), Nicole Hernandez (32nd), Kelsie Parnell (34th) and Hannah Dias (35th).
In the junior varsity division, Jessie Nystel led the way for Glen Rose by finishing 13th, while Tanna Wasilchack (16th), Shelby Tankersley (20th) and Marae Talavera (22nd) weren’t far behind.
Elizabeth Escobar (4th) and Makayla Kucera (7th) each earned medals in junior high competition. Other runners from GRJH were Becca Floyd and Rebecca Gomez.
Led by three runners in the top 10 at the District 7-3A meet at Whitney State Park on Oct. 28, Glen Rose placed third and qualified as a team for the 3A Region I cross country championships in Lubbock this weekend.
Luis Sandoval placed 7th in 17:38, Jarod Morgan was ninth in 17:50 and Joseph McPherson 10th in 17:54 for the Tigers, who finished with 79 points.
Gatesville won the event with 30 points, followed by Whitney with 50. The Hornets and Wildcats will join Glen Rose at the regional competition. Finishing behind the Tigers were West (92), Hillsboro (125) and China Spring (138).
Other runners for Glen Rose included Juan Garcia (22nd, 19:00), Manny Saldana (31st, 20:04), Hunter Blanks (36th, 21:04) and Efrain Saidana (39th, 21:34).
The Tigers also had three runners in the junior varsity division as Gacomo Salvarani placed sixth, Corbin Milton finished ninth and Max Albro was 17th.
