Although they didn’t emerge with a victory in Alvarado on Thursday, the Freshman Tiger football team had a solid performance.
Glen Rose (2-6) had its third-highest point total of the season in a 28-18 loss.
“The boys played hard, and even though the score doesn’t show it, this was probably their best game of the season,” coach Kiel Miller said. “We had a good week of practice, and it showed (Thursday).”
Quarterback Wyatt Goebel threw for 94 yards and two touchdowns. Dylan Hammond had 40 yards receiving, while Drayton Williams made an eight-yard touchdown grab and Gage Costello came up with a five-yard touchdown catch.
Chasen Monk had a big game with 93 rushing yards and 38 yards receiving.
Notable tacklers were Calen Ballesteros (7 tackles), Kasen Brewer (4) and Braxton Barrios (4).
The Freshman Tigers will return to action next Thursday at home against Fort Worth Castleberry at 5 p.m.
