Another week, another blowout defeat of a Six-Man Division II District 15 opponent for Walnut Springs.
The Hornets (8-0, 3-0) rolled up 251 rushing yards and needed just less than three full quarters to finish off Iredell 50-0 last Friday.
Seven Walnut Springs touchdowns were scored by seven different players. rushing TDs were scored by Kody Stack from the three, Eddie Whitt from the 33, Johnathan Stack from the 11, Mario Ballesteros from the 37 and Trey Buscha from the four. Whitt also passed for two scores - a three-yarder to Andrew Herring and a 21-yarder to Jacob White. Herring finished the scoring with four PAT kicks.
Five Hornets had more than five rushing yards led by Whitt with 56 on five attempts. he was followed by Johnathan Stack (3-50), Ballesteros (1-37), Kody Stack (5-33) and Rey Chavez (4-31).
Whitt was 5-9 passing for 66 yards. Herring and White each had two receptions.
Leading the defense in the shutout was Kody Stack with 12 tackles. White and Jordon Noyola each recovered Iredell fumbles. White also joined Ballesteros and Ryan Engelhardt in making five tackles while Chase Berry chipped in with four.
Walnut Springs looks to secure at least a share of the District 15 championship when the Hornets make the short road trip to Morgan on Friday. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
