Johnathan Stack was a perfect 8-8 passing for 186 yards and four touchdowns and six different Hornets found the end zone as Walnut Springs was dynamite offensively in a 78-35 rout of host Blum on Friday, Sept. 18.
Jacob White hauled in two of the scoring receptions while Andrew Herring and Kody Stack each caught one TD from Johnathan Stack, while Eddie Whitt tossed TDs to Mario Ballesteros and Ryan Engelhardt.
Kody Stack finished with three touchdowns individually, giving him 12 for the season. He also matched Engelhardt with an impressive game-high 20 tackles.
Walnut Springs led 30-29 after a 25-yard Blum TD pass with just one minute remaining in the first half, but thatís when Kody Stack began a run of 42 unanswered points by the Hornets.
The junior phenom returned Blumís kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown to make it 36-29 at the break, and Eddie Whitt scored on runs of 16 and 35 yards to make it 50-29 midway through the third.
Walnut Springs went back to the air for its final two scores of the third and the first of the fourth to complete the prolonged run.
Whitt was 4-7 passing for 45 yards and also picked up 134 yards on 11 carries. Engelhardt rushed for 51 yards while Kody Stack ran for 42 and led the team with 77 yards receiving. White was second in receiving yards with 66.
Johnathan Stack, Engelhardt, Whitt and Trey Bushca all intercepted Blum passes for the Hornets, and White provided a third double-digit tackle performance 15 stops.
The Hornets, 4-0, put their unblemished record on the line when they visit Jonesboro, 1-3, at 7:30 p.m. Friday
