Glen Rose senior Ty Taylor was named an Associated Press honorable mention all-state selection at wide receiver when honors were released last week.

Taylor, who helped lead the Tigers to a tri-championship in District 7-3A, had already received first-team all-district recognition.

“He certainly is deserving. He had an all-state-type of season,” said Glen Rose head coach Tommy Dunn. “That’s a great honor for him and he deserves it.”

Taylor hauled in 61 passes and amassed 1,045 yards while finding the end zone 10 times.

Defense and special teams were also on Taylor’s resume. He made 34 tackles, snagged two interceptions and returned nine punts for 94 yards.

“Ty is an overachiever because of his work ethic. He’s a program guy who will fit into any program he’s in and that’s why he’s been so successful,” said Dunn.

Dunn confirmed Taylor is looking to continue his football career at the next level and has been accepted to Princeton University. Harvard and Yale are also potential suitors for Taylor’s services. All three are members of the educationally elite Ivy League.
