Cold shooting doomed Walnut Springs in a pair of heartbreaking district losses in girls basketball action last week.

The Lady Hornets shot just 17 percent in a 25-21 loss to Covington and 18 percent in a 37-34 loss to Blum.

Shakota Billman led the way in both contests, tallying 15 points, eight rebounds and seven steals against Covington and 12 points, five boards and three steals against Blum.

Shea Jones had a good game in the loss to Blum, scoring nine points, grabbing five rebounds and collecting four steals.

Walnut Springs fell to 2-3 in league play in a week when they hit just 16 of 91 (17.6 percent) total shots from the floor.
