Youths of the Month
Emma Miller was named one of the Glen Rose High School Youths of the Month by the Optimist Club at its monthly breakfast Tuesday at the Somervell County Citizen Center. She is currently ranked 10th in the class and plans on attending Texas A&M.
Master Gardener certificate class coming soon
GLEN ROSE — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Somervell County announced its next Master Gardener Certification Course for March 28May 30, 2023. AgriLife offers the course once every two years, giving anyone interested in gardening an opportunity to join the Somervell County Master Gardeners Association.

Lady Tigers host Honeybees Friday in key district contest
GLEN ROSE — After falling to Stephenville earlier this month is the battle for first place in District 6-4A, the Glen Rose Lady Tigers couldn’t help but feel they let one get away. The Lady Tigers (26-10, 5-1) will get another shot at the Honeybees on Friday at 5 p.m.

He sat on the back porch with his front legs crossed and watched diligently. Everything before him concerned him and despite his age, nothing went unnoticed or unchecked. He listened intently to some far-off noise and probably wondered if he should check it out. He watched the halfgrown pup make a run at the chickens and rose to head him off but laid back down when the pup gave it up.

Glen Rose Tiger Pride Band earns prestige at UIL contest
GLEN ROSE — The Glen Rose Tiger Pride Band earned straight one ratings from each judge at the University Interscholastic League Region 30 Marching Contest earning them a Superior Rating held Oct. 15 in Springtown.
First practice of 2022-23
The Glen Rose Lady Tigers, ranked 15th in Class 4A, opened practice for the 2022-23 season Wednesday afternoon in preparation for their season opener on Nov. 8 at Alvarado. The Lady Tigers finished 31-6 last year, and lost to Decatur in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs, and they are hoping for a deeper run in 2022-23.
Lady Tigers set sights on making history
GLEN ROSE — The Glen Rose girls cross country team is a year older and a year stronger, and they are poised to make history. Last year, the Lady Tigers finished sixth overall at the Region 1 meet, two spots shy of qualifying for the state as a team for the first time in school history.
