The road was long and never ending and I wasn’t making much headway. When I topped the small crest, the valley unfolded before me, and my heart jumped. STEPHENVILLE — One year ago, the Glen Rose girls cross country team finished three points shy of winning the District 6-4A meet. On Tuesday, however, the Lady Tigers made up those three points and trimmed off three more to edge Brownwood, 41-38, at Stephenville City Park to win their first district title since 2017.
GLEN ROSE — Three Somervell County Sheriff Deputies were recognized with Lifesaving Awards at Commissioners Court on Tuesday for their efforts in two separate incidents. ABILENE — The Glen Rose girls golf team placed fifth and the boys team finished 10th at the 2022 Diamondback Invitational held at Diamondback National Golf Club in Abilene on Monday and Tuesday. Taylee Whalen carded rounds of 92-86 (178) to lead the Lady Tigers, while Addy Turner posted rounds of 91-92 (183) and Avery Power school 98-97 (195).
VENUS — When the sixtime defending district champion Glen Rose Tigers took on perennial district doormat Venus on Friday night, the result was as expected. The Tiger offense amassed 521 yards total offense, while the Tiger defense held the Bulldogs to just 122 yards total offense in Glen Rose’s 69-0 victory in the district opener for both teams.
