GRISD closes amid flu outbreak

GLEN ROSE — In late January 2025, a significant surge in flu cases led to the temporary closure of several school districts across North Texas. Districts such as Godley ISD in Johnson County reported that approximately 650 out of their 3,000 students were absent due to illness, prompting the district to close its campuses until Feb.

Glen Rose Field of Flags returns for second year

GLEN ROSE– The Glen Rose Field of Flags will again grace the community this Memorial Day Weekend, May 23-26, 2025, at the Glen Rose High School, offering the community an opportunity to pay tribute to its local heroes at the installation of hundreds of high-quality American flags. Following a successful inaugural year under the current leadership of military and nonmilitary members dedicated to education and charity, the nonprofit organization introduced a new feature to families honoring loved ones.

Council approves conditional waiver for Expo tract sale

GLEN ROSE- In a unanimous decision during its recent meeting, the Glen Rose City Council approved waiving its first right of refusal for a 0.53-acre tract adjacent to the Expo property, contingent on the future owners granting a utility easement. Council said the motion ensures the city retains access to utilities on the property after Somervell County sells it to the Macias family, owners of AJ Realty.
