The Boy Scouts from Troop 725 Glen Rose recently conducted a service project for Glen Lake Camp.

The cross on the hill overlooking the camp received a new coat of paint that was donated by Home Depot in Granbury. Twenty-five large cedar trees that were encroaching on the campfire ring at the base of the cross were cut down and removed in anticipation of an upcoming Boy Scout Camporee April 17-19 at the Wyatt Three Rivers Ranch (across the Paluxy from Glen Lake and Tres Rios).

Once a year all the Boy Scout troops in Hood, Johnson, and Somervell counties get together for a weekend of camping, fellowship, and competition called a Camporee.

The main event this year will feature a map and compass course in the rugged heavily wooded hills of the 700-acre ranch. Glen Lake Camp is allowing the scouts to have their Saturday night campfire at the cross overlooking the camp where the boys and their parents in attendance will be treated to a beautiful view of Glen Rose, and if the weather cooperates, a beautiful sunset as well.
