All good things must come to an end.

Lady Tiger basketball (9-4) had been rolling on an eight-game winning streak, but Glen Rose came up against its toughest challenge of the season Friday, Dec. 27 in the Bryan Tournament. Fairfield, ranked No. 10 in 3A, used dominating defense to top the Lady Tigers 40-12.

“They pressed us the entire game,” said coach Sheree Hill. “When we broke the press, we weren’t able to finish at the basket to capitalize.”

Kelsey Potter led her team with three points, followed by Kayla Goebel (2), Kimberlee McCullough (2), Sabrina Watson (2), Taya Vasquez (2) and Page Green (1).

“We played great defense – our best defensive effort of the year,” Hill said. “But we had no offense. Our shot selection and execution were poor.”

Glen Rose gets the chance to avenge one of its losses Saturday at 11 a.m. with a tourney matchup against Maypearl, which is the only team to beat the Lady Tigers this season that isn’t state-ranked.
