The Somervell County Citizens Center will be having the annual Trust Fund Christmas Party this Friday, Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. with entertainment provided by Cindy Renee and Company. Please call or come by to sign up. The Christmas party is given by the Somervell County Endowment Trust and is free to all Somervell County residents who are ages 60-and-older. If you live outside the county, there will be a charge of $5 at the door.

The center will be closed for the Christmas holiday on Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Thursday, Dec. 25. Please have a safe and happy Christmas holiday.

As the holidays are upon us, please be aware of your senior friends and neighbors. We have many services available for those over the age of 60, including home-delivered meals, lunches at the center and transportation within the county. Plus, there are scheduled trips to local grocers as well as a monthly trip to Walmart in Granbury. The center lends all sorts of medical equipment, as available, to anyone, regardless of age. The center has representatives doing health screens and providing other services to the community. If you know of a need, give us a call. We can probably help or find the help you need.

There will be no dance on Friday, Dec. 26 due to the Christmas holiday. If you missed our last dance, you missed a treat. Standing in for Michael Cote was Benji Allen. He plays some big venues like the Stagecoach Ballroom in Fort Worth and you can also catch him at the Western Kountry Klub in Midlothian from time to time. Local talent plus refreshments for $5! You can’t beat that with a stick, folks.

Winners of last week’s Bunco tournament were: Ann Parham with the most Buncos; Janelle Gartrell with the most wins; and Royce Stacy had the most losses. Others playing in the tournament included Janet Stacy, Zula Hunter, Betty Flanagan, Roger Jordan and Carole Kofke.

Activities at the Citizen’s Center beginning Dec. 22 include:

Tuesday – Wood carving, Wii bowling and crafts class.

Remember that you don’t have to be a senior to come and enjoy all of our activities or eat lunch with us.
