Big Chill gives back to Somervell County
A total of 64 two-person teams participated in Squaw Valley Golf Course’s annual Big Chill Golf Tournament last Friday, where bikes and toys were collected for Somervell County children for Christmas. The entry fee required golfers to donate toys or bikes and nearly 50 bikes were collected as well as a bunch of toys. They were delivered to Glen Rose schools on Monday, where they will find good homes for Christmas through the Angel Tree Program. “Knowing that so many kids will have a few more gifts under the tree this season makes us happy,” said Squaw Valley Golf Course Head Professional Steve Heppler on the course’s Facebook page. Somervell County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer Kevin Seaton helps deliver toys from the Big Chill to Glen Rose Elementary School.
Tuffy places fourth in mascot competition
Glen Rose High School mascot Tuffy competed in the Mascot Division of the NCA State Championships of Texas on Sunday at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas and Tuffy placed fourth overall.

4 GRHS choir students earn honors at Region 5 auditions
GLEN ROSE — Glen Rose High School seniors Avril Tovar and Weston Henry were selected to the Region Choir, while senior Kayla Hughes-Followill and sophomore Temperance Comer were named to the District Hood Treble Choir at the TMEA Small School Region 5 Choir auditions held last Saturday at Alvarado High School.
