Correction to Ft. Worth story last week

In the story titled “Fort Worth woman dies in accident on US 67” in the Oct. 7 issue of the Glen Rose Reporter, the woman who died in the Saturday, Oct. 1 accident, was misidentified in the report given to the Glen Rose Reporter by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Killed was: Jennifer Walden, 48, of Fort Worth. We apologize for the misidentification.

San Diego Zoo penguin fitted with orthopedic footwear

SAN DIEGO (AP) — A member of the San Diego Zoo’s African penguin colony has been fitted with orthopedic footwear to help it deal with a degenerative foot condition. The 4-year-old penguin named Lucas has lesions on his feet due to a chronic condition known as bumblefoot, which covers a range of avian foot problems, the San Diego Wildlife Alliance said Monday in a press release.

Dinosaur Capital of Texas

The dinosaurs sold as a fundraiser by the Glen Rose Lions Club are beginning to pop up around town. The dinosaur outside Hammond’s BBQ is painted like a cow and has horns and a brand, while the dinosaur at Century 21 is totally yellow and adorned with the company logo. The Lions Club sold a total of 30 dinosaurs, netting $30,000 to help fund scholarships for high school seniors, the club’s eyeglass program, contributions to the local food bank and more.
