This version, directed by Carrie Cracknell, is set in the Regency-era and preserves some of Austen’s words but also infuses the script with modern buzzwords like “thriving” and “self-care.” Associated Press Film Writer Lindsey Bahr writes in her review that although the cast is pleasant, the modernization has a whiff of condescension to it and seems misguided. “Persuasion,” which begins streaming Friday, is rated PG.
