AUSTIN –Attorney General Ken Paxton sent a multi-state letter, led by West Virginia, to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regarding the ongoing baby formula supply issues throughout the United States. This issue has plagued the entire country for weeks on end and Texas families are paying the price. The letter was sent in response to the FTC’s request for comments on possible causes of the infant formula shortage.

AG Paxton pushes back against court decision threatening religious liberty

AUSTIN –Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton joined an Oklahoma-led multistate amicus brief urging an en banc rehearing of a decision by the Denver-based U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals that threatens the freedom of religious groups to select their own leaders and operate free from the entanglements of government overregulation. In that case, a faith-based K-12 religious school fired a chaplain who sued to challenge his termination. Typically, a court will decide preliminarily, and as a matter of law, whether a religious organization can be sued in such a case, or whether the “ministerial exception” applies and grants it discretion to choose its spiritual leadership. Here, the court held that the jury should decide that question.

Rocker Carlos Santana ‘doing well’ after collapsing onstage

DETROIT (AP) — Guitar icon Carlos Santana collapsed on stage during a show in Michigan and was rushed to a hospital, later blaming the episode on forgetting to eat or drink water. Santana, 74, was “doing well” Wednesday after being taken from his show at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, some 40 miles northwest of Detroit, to the emergency department at McLaren Clarkston for observation Tuesday night, manager Michael Vrionis in a statement.
