Somervell County bans fireworks

GLEN ROSE — On the same day as voting in a county-wide burn ban, the Somervell County commissioners passed a ban on fireworks. Working on the counsel handed down from the Texas Forest Service, which determined drought conditions existed in the county, in its regularly scheduled meeting on June 13, the commissioners unanimously adopted the order “prohibiting or restricting the sale or use of restricted fireworks in the unincorporated areas of Somervell County.

Jennifer Faith sentenced to life for Murder for Hire in husband’s death

Jennifer Lynne Faith, the Oak Cliff woman who convinced her boyfriend to shoot her husband to death, was sentenced today to life in federal prison for orchestrating the murder, announced U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Chad E. Meacham. In February 2021, prosecutors charged Ms. Faith, 49, with obstruction of justice.

Rallying in relief

NEW YORK (AP) — Wall Street rallied Wednesday following the Federal Reserve’s sharpest hike to interest rates since 1994, and its later assurance that such mega-hikes would not be common. The S&P 500 climbed 54.51, or 1.5%, to 3,789.99 after whipping through roller-coaster trading immediately following the Fed’s announcement.
