GLEN ROSE — Somervell County Precinct 3 Commissioner Chip Joslin voiced strong opposition to the proposed Wolf Hollow Unit 3 gas plant expansion during a contested case hearing before the State Office of Administrative Hearings, warning of cumulative health and environmental impacts on both Somervell and Hood counties. Protect Hood County appeals to local GOP for support

GRANBURY — Speaking before the Hood County Republican Club this month, Cheryl Shadden, a representative of the grassroots group Protect Hood County, delivered a powerful call to action against the expanding presence of crypto mines, power plants and industrial-scale infrastructure across the region. In her speech, Shadden outlined a series of environmental and public health concerns, focusing in particular on operations at the Wolf Hollow 1 power plant, Marathon Digital's cryptocurrency mining facility, and a lithium-ion battery storage site currently under construction off Mambrino Highway.

GLEN ROSE — The Leadership Glen Rose Class of 2025 continued immersing itself in the community, with Drew Myers at the helm, in partnership with the Glen Rose Somervell County Chamber of Commerce, to give this year's participants a behind-the-scenes look at the area's civic, economic and cultural foundations. The 2025 group includes Samantha Castorena, Caity Schmidt, Ally Tello, Haley Clemens, Kimberly McDonald, Lauri Mapes, Sonya King, Julia Plaster, Tammie Apodaca, Veronica Welch, Kristen Blakley, Ymke Condy, Brooke Reinig, Caisson Montieth and Eric Denson.

La Palmilla celebrates grand opening of bodega and beverage program

GLEN ROSE — La Palmilla, the Spanish-style resort off the Brazos River just outside Glen Rose, has officially launched its expanded food and beverage program with the grand opening of Bodega La Palmilla, a poolside bar and market opposite the Casa Del Rey chapel on the property. The ribbon cutting, held the week of July 4 in partnership with the Glen Rose Somervell County Chamber of Commerce, marked a new chapter for the boutique property, which opened in 2023 and now offers alcohol service and an on-site food truck, La Fonda by Brazos.
