I, as well as most others who string words together, will never be confused with Robert Frost, the poetry genius from whose pen flowed marvelous words about his beloved New England. One of his best--published in the Atlantic Monthly in 1915--was “The Road Not Taken.” Actually, it was intended as a joke to a writer friend.

How Much Does Your Anger Weigh?

As a kid I always had a terrible time with anger and frustration. I had a terrible temper. I got in trouble more times than not for getting mad and throwing something or breaking something and despite getting in trouble it never seemed that I could get a grasp on controlling my anger. My anger opened my mouth and, it wasn’t a good mix.

I was deeply moved by the show of support from the people of Winters, Texas to the people of Cross Plains at the football game on Friday. As it says in the article, Cross Plains student and athlete Ryan Hopkins died tragically in an automobile accident on August 8th. I have lost a son and know the pain of losing a child, as many others know, unfortunately. There is no pain like it, and it never eases up. Sometimes bearing that pain alone can be paralyzing.

Debts and bells

This past week I read where all college graduates with college debt would be relieved of a portion or all of that debt. Personally I think they entered into that debt knowing they would have to pay it back. Their education gained from their selected school of higher learning should have given them a skill or skills for them to earn a good living and pay that debt back to their university. What does paying off their debt by our government say about owning up to one’s responsibility? What is that payoff going to cost us taxpayers? Did you pay off your debts?
