Can you believe 2013 is 1/52 over? My, how time DOES fly!
I hope you and yours had a peaceful and meaningful holiday season. I know many struggled to find joy during the days of Christmas because of dealing with the recent loss of a loved one. I certainly understand THAT. I am also living proof that God’s grace is truly sufficient… for those who’ll allow it to be.
I was blessed to get to spend time with many of my loved ones during the Christmas season. Even enjoyed a white Christmas in Colorado. (Of course, there were those in North Texas who got more snow than we did in Monument!)
Had another interesting encounter with the TSA at DFW as I prepared to head to Colorado Springs. One time, a while back, before entering the big x-ray machine I was instructed to be sure everything… EVERY thing… was out of my pockets. ALL pockets.
I missed a small piece of paper in a shirt pocket before entering the machine. Once through, I was pulled aside and thoroughly searched before being allowed to get on the plane.
On my most recent trip, I went through the machine and was informed by the agent needed to search my arms and upper body. Per his instruction, I stretched my arms out to either side. He proceeded to pat them down and then run his hands up and down and around my torso. (I didn’t like it, but it wasn’t nearly as bothersome as when they do the lower half.) After being convinced I was “clean,” the agent, I was okayed to go.
I got dressed… again… and headed for my gate. Once I was there, I was getting situated in my chair when I noticed something inside my shirt pocket. I reached in a pulled out my iPod Touch… the one that is the same size as my cell phone. Once again my confidence in airport security was bolstered. Not.
On Jan. 19, 2003, thirteen of us gathered in a metal building… with no heat… for the first meeting of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship. It’s so hard to believe that was 10 years ago!
God had richly blessed us through the years, and we are certainly grateful for all those blessings. We’re going to celebrate our anniversary on Sunday, Jan. 20. There’ll be a country-style “dinner-on-the-ground” after the worship service, including some good ol’ fried chicken (that’s still got the bone in it!) and lots of other favorite delectables. We’ll have some good singin’, story-tellin’ and table-games. Just a whole lot of great fellowship. It’s gonna be fun and we invite our friends outside the Cornerstone family to celebrate with us. Just bring your favorite covered-dish item and join us for an afternoon of fun. We’ll get started right after noon with the added festivities.
If you have a church home, I hope you’ll be THERE come Sunday. If not, we’d love to have you visit us! Bible study (all ages) starts at 9:30 and worship is at 10:40. The church is located at 3184 FM 202, formerly “Rock Creek Baptist Church.”
Life’s an adventure. I’m livin’ it up!!!
