Somervell County Master Gardeners, Community Horticulture Education

6:30 p.m., Citizen’s Center: The public is invited to hear Christine Morgan, ND, present her program, “The Importance of Eating Greens and How to Grow Them.” Christine is a long-time resident of Glen Rose and holds many degrees in science, nutrition and health. She is also a Master Gardener and certified square-foot gardener. For thousands of years, humans have lived off of green/leafy vegetables, and Christine is trying to show us the importance of including them in our diets today as well. The available plant nutrition in leaves is greater than in other vegetables. Her power point presentation will cover some of the different varieties of greens we need and the proper soil preparation in which to grow them. She will cover succession planting as well. Two handouts will be available: “Growing Greens for all Seasons” and “Seven Low-Labor, Fast-Growing Edible Greens.” A short question/answer session will close out the meeting. As always, this program is free and brought to the community by Somervell County Master Gardeners.
