GLEN ROSE - Glen Rose High School Tiger Pride Band member, Garet Vaughn was recently named to the ATSSB All-State Band. This is the second time in his high school career that Vaughn, who plays tuba, has been selected for All-State band.
In order to qualify for All-State band, more than 9,000 band students from across Texas had to auditioned for their area All-Region band. The top chairs from that competition were chosen to advance to area qualifiers for All-State band. Out of the 2,020 students that auditioned, Vaughn, is one of the 290 band members that were selected for the prestigious band.
Not only is Vaughn active in band, he is a member the national honor society, a part of the GRHS student council and workforce in training program. He also participates in the academic UIL competitions. Upon graduation, Vaughn will be heading to the University of Texas in the fall, where he will be majoring in aerospace engineering.
Outside of his school achievements, Vaughn likes to compose music and collect musical instruments.
Next week, Vaughn will be attending the ATSSB All-State convention, where the band will present a concert.
