GLEN ROSE - Glen Rose High School FCCLA members are currently accepting food donations for their upcoming region meeting being held in Waco.

The students are looking to collect non-perishable breakfast food items. The items collected will go to benefit Caritas of Waco, a non-profit charity organizations that provides food, clothing and household items to those in need. The FCCLA members are collecting cereal, dried fruit, granola bars, pop tarts, breakfast bars and hot cereal for donations.

On March 4, the students will head to Waco for the organization's regional meeting, during which, a majority of the FCCLA members will be participating in the Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) event. During STAR, the students will present a project, which will be ranked by judges.

If their projects are highly ranked, they will advance to the FCCLA state meeting. There will also be culinary competition that chapter members will participate in.

As for the fundraiser, local chapter officer for FCCLA, Ashley Hang, said that the group would like to raise at least 2,500 items. The students will be collecting items until March 3, and anyone can drop off donations at the GRHS office.
