RIO VISTA – Chance Hatfield and the JV White baseball team easily handled the Rio Vista Eagles in run-rule fashion Friday, 12-1. The win was the fourth-straight during district play and second on the road.
Hatfield tossed a five-inning complete game with 10 strikeouts. He also issued two walks, but allowed just one hit – a single to right field on a 1-2 count in the second inning.
The lone run Hatfield allowed came in the third inning. Hatfield walked the Eagles’ eight-hole hitter who later scored after a stolen base and pass ball. The run was unearned.
At the plate, the Tigers were the recipients of 10 free passes. Kelton Bernard led the way in the hits department with two and scored after both. He also reached base in the fourth inning on an error by the Rio Vista shortstop.
Connor Hansen and Seth Love each scored three runs on five walks. Love recorded a single back through the middle to leadoff the third inning.
The Tigers return to the field Tuesday at home against Keene with an opportunity to run their winning streak to five games. First pitch is slated for 4:30 p.m.
