GATESVILLE - Tiger football officially kicked off its summer slate of 7-on-7 tournament play in the McGregor High School 7-on-7 State Qualifying tournament. The one-day pool-play tournament was held at two sites - McGregor and Gatesville High Schools - and was the first for the Tigers under the new offense being implemented by newly-hired head coach Cliff Watkins.

The Tigers started strong with a win over 3A Dublin, 27-13. A late first-half touchdown against the Yellowjackets of Stephenville High School and a stingy second-half defense handed Glen Rose its first of two-straight losses, 25-19. The Tigers dropped their third and final game of pool-play to Gatesville, 30-21, after being outscored 11-8 in the second half.

Glen Rose will host a state-qualifying tournament Saturday June 4. The Tigers will then travel to Brownwood Saturday, June 11 for their third shot at a bid to the state 7-on-7 tournament held in College Station.
