GLEN ROSE – The Glen Rose Garden Club recently held its May meeting inside the Storiebook Café just off the Historic Downtown Glen Rose square. The meeting included the installation of 2016-17 officers and a lunch provided by the café.
Out-going president, Sandi Stringer delivered a moving speech full of praise to her committee of officers and gave each of then a gift of appreciation for their outstanding work throughout the year. Stringer was then charged with conducting the ceremony to place the officers for the new chapter year.
Those sworn in included Eileen Gonzales, president; Jan Moore, vice president; Joyce Selby, historian; Karen Britton, notification secretary; and Barbara Lancaster, treasurer. Upon taking office, each new officer was given a plant, candy and a rose to symbolize their positions.
Meetings will resume sometime in September. The club consistently maintains the flower boxes located around the downtown square and Crump Park, the city’s smallest park, which is located across from the bird sanctuary, a short walk from the Somervell County Courthouse.
