GLEN ROSE - The regular May meeting of the Beta Mu Delta chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority was recently held at the patriotic home of Sharon Schultz and featured the yearly reveal of “Secret Sisters.”
The meeting was also the last for the summer, as the sorority will take a three-month hiatus before reconvening in September. According to BMD Vice President Melodie Isham, the Ritual of Jewel - the first ceremony for new pledges - will be held during the September meeting. As of May 31, the new pledges for BMD were to include Carolyn Stegall and Peggy Ward.
During the meeting, Ann Claybaugh, chapter treasurer, updated the sisters on the proceeds collected from the annual garage sale. Claybaugh also recapped the chapter’s recent trip to Magnolia Market located in Waco, Texas.
Scrapbook chair, Pam Hirsch also presented a year-long-recap scrapbook to outgoing BMD President Peggy Lytle.
The “big reveal” of the chapter's secret sisters - which includes a secret exchange of small gifts, trinkets and other novelties throughout the year - was led by Karen Wells, secret sister committee chair, following the business portion of the meeting.
Ymke Condy and Debbie Davis also served as hostesses for the event where a down-home southern meal was served, which included an appeasing array of red, white and blue desserts.
BMD members present included Debi Bly, Lisa Bonnett, Ann Claybaugh, Ymke Condy, Debbie Davis, Tammy Dooley, Pam Hirsch, Julie Hutchinson, Melodie Isham, Julie Locke, Peggy Lytle, Sharon Schultz, Carolyn Stegall, Peggy Ward and Karen Wells.
