Merlin "Mert" Munday, 83, of Glen Rose, TX went to his final reward on June 26th, 2016.
Graveside services will be on Wednesday, June 29th at 9:30 am at Rock Creek Cemetery in Glen Rose, TX. Visitation will be at Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose, TX on Tuesday, June 28th from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.
Mert was born in Evant, TX to Edward Vernon and Orene Munday on November 21st, 1932. He married A. Jean White on January 4th, 1969. He was a heating and frost insulator until he retired after 35 years. After retirement he spent his time raising his cattle, gardening and tending his orchard. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mert was a man who was devoted to his family. He loved the farm on which he lived. He always grew an extra-large garden so that he could share what he grew. He enjoyed the many different animals he raised. He was an avid reader. He read at least 3 books every week. He was a Christian who loved his Lord. He served as a Deacon of his church for many years. He was a man who always had a smile on his face and was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Merlin is survived by his wife A. Jean Munday and their daughters, Lisa Dehtan, Cindy Powers and husband Mark, and Dawn Green and husband Tracey; 5 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren; 2 brothers, James Munday from Gatesville, TX, and Wayland Munday from Paris, TX; 2 sisters, Veleria Donahoo from Cleburne, TX, and Verina Van Winkle from Mexia, TX; numerous aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces and nephews.
