Glen Rose lost its city secretary recently, but was fortunate to gain an experienced replacement.
On Jan. 25, Terri Johnson — a familiar face around Town Hall — took over as city secretary for Christy Cavness Bradshaw in that position.
Johnson was named to the post after Bradshaw left a couple of weeks ago to become city secretary in Vernon. Bradshaw departed because her husband took a job in the Vernon area.
Johnson was with Glen Rose previously as interim city secretary in the spring of 2015 and as interim city administrator in the fall of that year. Johnson had retired in 2012 after 34 years of city administration work.
“I’ve been doing interim work with Texas First Group (a group of retired city managers),” Johnson noted.
Johnson’s last position was as city administrator for Piney Point Village, near Houston. She held that post for three years. Johnson previously worked 25 years for the city of Hereford, with the final 12 years as city secretary. That was followed by six years as city manager/city secretary for the city of Friona.
Johnson, who resides in Pecan Plantation near Granbury, was originally from Hereford.
“I love Glen Rose. I had wanted to work here for a long time — before I retired, even,” Johnson said. “I have a real passion for this profession.”
Johnson has served as president of the Texas Municipal Clerks Association. She has written chapters in the municipal clerks handbook and has taught training sessions. Johnson was named as the Texas Municipal Clark of the Year in 2003.
