Glen Rose Bird Club began their 26th year with a presentation by Rio Brazos Master Naturalists Dave and Wendy Moore. Acton Nature Center (ANC) and its wonderful birding opportunities was the featured topic.

The center is located at 6900 Smokey Hill Ct. in Granbury. Public access is free. Over 130 bird species have documented sightings at ANC.

Bird watching has become even more enjoyable since the 2015 opening of a bird blind with indoor seating. Opportunities for bird photography are enhanced by features at the blind.

While the center is open seven days per week, a guided bird walk takes place at 7 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month.

Many public events are scheduled throughout the year and can be found by visiting the websites actonnaturecenter.org and riobrazosmn.org. or calling 817-326-6005.

Glen Rose bird club members maintain the bird sanctuary located on Barnard Street between Spirit Wind Church and China Wok Restaurant. Bird feeders are filled monthly and plants are maintained as needed throughout the year.

Donations for birdseed are alway appreciated.
