If you are looking to get in shape after the holidays, GRMC and Glen Rose Nursing & Rehab will be offering fitness classes here at the Center on the first and third Tuesdays of the month, beginning in March. On March 14 we will have one of the local doctors speaking on senior fitness and signing up participants.

We will not be having the AARP tax volunteers here this year. The nearest location they will be doing taxes is the public library in Granbury.

Be sure to cast your vote at the Center for Valentine King & Queen. We will crown the winners and enjoy some refreshments on Tuesday, February 14th. Also, don’t forget to wear all your red…we mean all of it! There will be a prize for the person wearing the most red.

Our next dance will be Friday, Feb. 10. Western Reunion will be performing. Bring your Valentine or come find one.  Doors open at 6:00. $5 at the door.

Winners of last week’s Forty-Two tournament were Roy Mercer & James Kelley in first place, Billie Flanary & Tamra Black in second, Royce Stacy & Clark Stewart in third and Nancy Moore & Dortha Beck in fourth. Others playing were: John & Phyllis Psencik, Ray Dowdy & Ann Parham, Jackie Smith & Don Baker and Loveda Swaim & Dorothy Jo Osborn.

Activities at the Citizen’s Center beginning Feb. 13: Wal Mart shopping trip, Chess and Bingo on Monday, crowning of Valentine’s King & Queen and wood carving on Tuesday; Forty-Two tournament, blood pressure testing by Lee Healthcare, therapy talk w/ Kevin from Cherokee Rose and Dollar General shopping on Wednesday;  Craft class, Chess and local grocery shopping on Thursday and  dance, Bingo and local grocery shopping on Friday.

Besides the scheduled activities, there are games, puzzles, Forty Two and visiting going on every day.  Don’t see it on the calendar? Make a suggestion; we’re always looking for new ideas.

If you know anyone who may need meals, transportation, an emergency response system, medical equipment, Food Stamps (SNAP) or Food Bank applications, utility assistance applications or any other senior oriented services, please call or come by the Center.

Remember that you don’t have to be a senior to come and enjoy all of our activities or eat lunch with us. You can go to our Facebook page “Somervell Citizens’ Center” for lots of pictures and the next day’s menu and scheduled events and don’t forget to “like” our page. You can also visit our website at www.glenrosesccoa.com for menus and activity schedules. Our number is 254-897-2139.
