Glen Rose Bird Club (GRBC) held its second monthly meeting of 2017 last week at the Somervell County Citizen Center.

Sixteen people were in attendance to hear assistant park manager, Nicole Gilbert give a presentation on birding at Dinosaur Valley State Park.

Gilbert noted that over 200 species of birds have been sighted at the park. She introduced members to E-Bird, a citizen-scientist application for tracing bird sightings worldwide. She encourages all to use the application for documenting local bird sightings.

Plans are underway for a GRBC group bird walk at DVSP. Gilbert also introduced our new Glen Rose resident and DVSP interpreter, Jenn Menage.

We welcome her and look forward to more birding events at the park.

Members were encouraged to participate in the 2cd annual Spring Wing Ding at DVSP on May 13.

Also planned is a club booth at the upcoming March 25 Acton Nature Center Feather-Fest Event. Members made plans to meet at the Glen Rose Bird Sanctuary in March for spring cleaning of the sanctuary.

Public volunteers are always welcome. Donations for bird seed at the sanctuary are also welcome.
