1. Dinosaur Classic Barrel Race

2. Dutch Oven Cakes

Join Dinosaur Valley State Park as it celebrates National Chocolate Cake Day with a Dutch Oven Cakes event taking place at 1 p.m. Saturday at the park’s amphitheater. This event is appropriate for all ages and those attending are welcome to bring their own dutch ovens and ingredients if interested in cooking. If not, then learn how to make one over a campfire. 3. Star Party in the Valley

Take a glimpse into space at Dinosaur Valley State Park’s Star Party in the Valley event taking place from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at track site 3. Telescopes will be on-site, but visitors can bring their own to view and learn about constellations, galaxies, stars and the moon. 4. Hike to the Summit

Enjoy the fresh morning air at Dinosaur Valley’s Hike to the Summit kicking off at 11 a.m. Sunday at track site 2. The hike is strenuous and will last approximately one hour and those attending are asked to bring water and snacks. The journey will end at the most visited overlook in the park. 5. Introduction to Essential Oils

Learn about the benefits of essential oils at a free introduction program taking place from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the W.K. Gordon Center in Mingus. Those attending the public educational experience will learn about a variety of oils that work to boost the immune system, fight depression and help with digestive issues.
