The May 6 election for five expiring places on the Glen Rose Medical Center’s Board of Directors has been canceled, which will save approximately $7,500 in the hospital’s budget.

Because only the five incumbents filed to be on the ballot, the board voted unanimously (7-0) during a special meeting called on Feb. 27 to cancel the election.

The five board members who filed but were unopposed are Pam Parsons, Margaret Drake, Pat Bruce, Dr. Steven Vacek and Dwayne Griffin. All five started their current terms in 2016, and their new terms will start after they are sworn in again.

The two other board members, GRMC Board President Ron Hankins and Vice President Brett Nabors are not up for reelection this year.

GRMC’s hospital district was created in 2013, and this was the first time an election for board members has been canceled because there were no challengers.
