Our Banquet Room at the Somervell County Citizens Center is available for rent for various events at a seating capacity limit of 252 persons.

Our Paluxy Room is available as well, with a seating capacity of 30. Please see one of our staff members at the Center if you are interested in booking either of the rooms.

We ask that you keep close watch on the children attending the event. At an event booked recently, gravel was thrown in the parking and patio areas outside the building, which created a hazard for our senior citizens and staff members.

When you are at the Center for an event, please remember that this is a place frequented by senior citizens, and the Center must be kept at all times a safe environment for them.

We are looking for a part-time custodian to clean the Center on a daily basis, Monday through Friday.

We are also wanting a substitute driver for our meals on wheels and transportation programs at the Center. If you know anyone who might be interested, please contact a staff member.

Don’t forget to join Cita Moore and others at the Center at 6 p.m. for bluegrass pickin’ and singin’ on Monday, April 2. Bring a dish and your toes for tapping.

Also on Monday, several gather for games of bingo starting at 10:30 that morning. Bingo is also played on Fridays at 10:30 a.m.

Our 42 tournament will be held on Wednesday, April 4 beginning at 9 a.m. Come join us for games of 42 and match your skills with other players.

The Cherokee Rose staff will also be here on Wednesday to test for blood sugar. Come by, have your blood sugar tested by professional staff, and then stay for lunch at noon.

If you are coming for lunch, please call in advance by 10 a.m. that morning to assure that a meal will be available for you. Meals are prepared based on an estimate of those who are our regulars and those who call in. Also, meals are served at noon. Be sure to arrive and be seated by noon so that a meal will be served hot to you.
