The weekend is approaching with some great family-friendly Easter events taking place in Glen Rose and the surrounding area. Make it a good one, and Happy Easter from the Glen Rose Reporter!
1. Somervell County Rodeo
Don’t miss some high-speed action at the Somervell County Rodeo taking place at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Somervell County Expo Center. The event will feature Mutton Bustin, food and family activities and the proceeds will benefit the county’s FFA, youth, Happy Trails Cowboy Church and the Rodeo Cowboy Assistance Association. 2. 281 Speedway Easter celebration
Some racing fun for the whole family will kick off at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at 281 Speedway when C&S Promotions holds an Easter celebration race day event. The races will include IMCA Modified, Street Stock, IMCA Sport Compact, Elite Non-Wing Sprint Series, IMCA Sport Mod, IMCA I Stock and Factory Stock. General admission tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for seniors, military, first responders and students (ages 13 and up); $5 for kids ages six-12; and free for kids five and under. 3. Sunrise Service/Easter egg hunt
Celebrate with Happy Trails Cowboy Church at its Sunrise Service/Easter egg hunt event kicking off at 7 a.m. Sunday at the church. Donuts and kolaches will be served up with the egg hunt following the 10 a.m. service. For more information call 432-360-9200.
4. Children’s Easter Celebration
Easter treats, popcorn and the movie An Easter Carol will all be part of the Glen Rose First United Methodist Church’s Easter celebration for children taking place from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Sunday at the church’s Family Center. For more information call 254-897-2572.
5. Easter Crafts at Dinosaur Valley
Round up the kiddos and head over to Dinosaur Valley State Park to make some Easter crafts from 2-3 p.m. Sunday. Those attending will meet at the park store and join a ranger to have some Easter-themed fun.
