Theatre at Tarleton and The Summer Studio present the A.R. Gurney play “Love Letters.”

Curtain time is 7:30 nightly June 28, 29 and 30 and July 5, 6 and 7 in the Workshop Theater of Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center.

The two-person cast features Tarleton Assistant Vice President for Development Janice Horak, who plays Melissa Gardner, and associate professor of theatre arts, Mark Holtorf, who plays Andrew Makepeace Ladd III.

A unique and imaginative piece, the play is comprised of letters exchanged over a lifetime between two people who grew up together, went their separate ways, but continued to share confidences. As the actors read the letters aloud, what is created is an evocative, touching, frequently funny but always telling pair of character studies in which what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is actually written down.

Tickets for “Love Letters” are $10 for adults and $8 for senior citizens, children and Tarleton faculty, staff and students. The box office, located inside the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center, is open 2-6 p.m. Monday through Friday the weeks of the production and 6:45 to 8 p.m. on show nights.
