Here it is! Already the end of July, and we’re welcoming in August. The year is flying by quickly!
August is offering up some new events.
This Wednesday, beginning at noon, a lecture on skin care will
be given. On Wednesday, Aug. 29, at noon, you can hear about the signs and causes of skin cancer.
Our monthly dance is Saturday, Aug. 18, and music is provided by Grant Groblebe and Joe. Doors open at 7 pm. Be sure and come for these events.
Don’t miss bingo on Monday and Friday beginning at 10:30 a.m. And the chess players will be gathered on Monday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon the woodcarvers meet, and the fitness group exercises on Tuesday and Thursday, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
If you need assistance with utility bills, come to the Center from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday to meet with a staff member from Texas Neighborhood Services to see if you qualify. For 42 competition, players meet for the first monthly tournament at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, and line dancing lessons begin at 10:30 am on that
day. You can also have your blood sugar tested by Cherokee Rose staff on Wednesday, beginning at 11:30 am.
To go grocery shopping, call the Center and reserve your ride on Tuesday and Friday at 1 pm. A trip to Dollar General is available at 1:30 pm on Thursday.
The menu for the week is:
Friday, July 27 – Meatballs with gravy over rice, green peas, garden salad, cornbread, and vanilla pudding.
Monday – Chicken fried chicken with gravy, mashed potatoes, green lima beans, and roll.
Tuesday – Beef stew, garden salad, cornbread, lemon cake.
Wednesday – Pork roast, sweet potatoes, turnip greens, cornbread, and apple crisp.
Thursday – Hamburger, baked beans, carrot raisin salad, peaches.
Friday – Salisbury steak, scalloped potatoes, mixed vegetables, roll, and peach cobbler.
Our Center is located at 209 SW Barnard, 254-897-2139. We are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 in the morning to 4:30 in the afternoon. Meals eaten at the Center for those 60 and over: donations are appreciated; those under 60 years of age: $5.50; take-out meals are $3.75 for citizens 60 and over
and $5.50 for those under 60 with drink and dessert included.
