Labor Day, which is the first Monday in September, celebrates workers who have contributed to the well-being of the country and the holiday is coming up on Monday.
“The vital force of labor added materially to the highest standard of living and the greatest production the world has ever known and has brought us closer to the realization of our traditional ideals of economic and political democracy,” states the United States Department of Labor. “It is appropriate, therefore, that the nation pay tribute on Labor Day to the creator of so much of the nation’s strength, freedom, and leadership — the American worker.”
So, let’s take a look at what will be closed on Monday:
• Glen Rose ISD
• City Hall and other government offices
• Local banks, credit unions and the Post Office
However, many stores and restaurants will be open for regular business on Labor Day, so it’s a good idea to call ahead before heading out.
