An Erath County sheriff’s deputy has been terminated after he was arrested and charged with sexual assault.
Dylan Metsgar, 24, was taken into custody Wednesday at the sheriff’s office. He is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old high school student.
Sheriff Matt Coates told the E-T that Metsgar has been fired, but declined to comment on the case further.
Metsgar was suspended from the sheriff’s office last week when the Texas Rangers began investigating the allegation.
Metsgar was released from the Erath County Jail after posting a $30,000 bond.
He has hired Stephenville attorney Shay Isham to represent him. Isham has declined to comment on the case.
