Welcome to October. Fall is here! At the Center, many events will be happening this month.

Don’t forget that Monday, Oct. 1, at 6 p.m. is bluegrass with Cita Moore.

Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. is our Arts and Crafts class. 9 am to noon the woodcarvers meet to hone their skills, and from 10 a.m. to noon Treadway Hearing will be screening. Also, at 10:30 a.m. the fitness group meets, led by Terri Lucas, and 1 p.m. the drivers take citizens 60 and over to the grocery store.

Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon you can come to the Center to talk about acquiring assistance on your utility bills. If you are 60 or over, and, if you qualify, you can get the help you need on paying your utility bill. Also at 9 a.m. is the Center’s 42 tournament. The line dancing class meets at 10:30 a.m. and at 11:30 Cherokee Rose will be here to test your blood sugar level.

Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the chess players meet. At 10:30 a.m. citizens meet to exercise, and at 1:30 p.m. the drivers will take citizens 60 and over to Dollar General. Please call and reserve your ride.

Friday at 10:30 a.m. the Bingo group meets, and at 1pm you can go the grocery store if you missed Tuesday’s trip.

Don’t forget to call the Center to reserve your meal Monday through Friday. Please call before 10 a.m so that we can get a count for Judy, our cook, for the meal that day. If you want to reserve for the whole week, you are welcome to call on Monday to let us know.

Our Center is located at 209 SW Barnard, 254-897-2139. We are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. in the morning to 4:30 p.m. in the afternoon. Meals eaten at the Center for those 60 and over: donations are very much appreciated; those under 60 years of age: $5.50; take-out meals are $3.75 for citizens 60 and over and $5.50 for those under 60 with drink and dessert included.

Friday, September 28 – Baked fish, pinto beans, cole slaw, hushpuppies, cookies.

Monday – Pinto beans with ham, macaroni and cheese, cabbage, cornbread, peach/apricot cobbler.

Tuesday – Beef stew, garden salad, cornbread, mandarin oranges.

Wednesday – Chopped steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, roll, fruit salad.

Thursday – Pasta with meat sauce, mixed vegetables, salad, garlic toast, cookies.

Friday – Smothered chicken, mashed potatoes, green peas, roll, peach cobbler.
